I am most familiar with tribes in the Midwest (Lakota, Dakota)Natives would paint their faces when they went out for a hunt, went to war or for spiritual reasons after a vision. I used the color red on the face of my wolf drawing because red is often associated with war or battle. Since the wolf is a spiritual animal for the Native Americans and it is in a battle to save its own life I added the red paint to the face. I also added a blue paw print to the leg to represent having survived a battle. Natives would paint their horses with different symbols, the symbol would depend on if they were going to battle or had survived a battle. My wolf is a survivor but it is still fightingGeneration of the Wolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01862881533514427104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-569794527226326270.post-69721897531931001292011-08-10T03:39:16.754-07:002011-08-10T03:39:16.754-07:00Do the markings on the wolf mean anything specific...Do the markings on the wolf mean anything specific?Lee Goodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05911261310514786271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-569794527226326270.post-41402302189382710272011-08-08T20:47:22.279-07:002011-08-08T20:47:22.279-07:00Thank you Teresa and Under the Willow.
